According to Italian outlet Diretta Goal (h/t Liverpool Echo), Tottenham Hotspur are expressing possible interest in signing Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella. It does not say whether this interest will become a reality in January or next summer.
Spurs enjoyed a very fruitful summer transfer window this season. The north London club managed to add six players to their senior squad and all that before pre-season had even begun. However, Yves Bissouma was the only midfielder that Conte bought this summer. His addition leaves the coach with four preferred choices in the midfield department. Adding another to this midfield will only help the club.
The Lilywhites have a very hectic schedule even next year, and more matches will be added with further progress in other competitions. Depth and quality will be essential and adding Barella would only help with that. But the north London club are not the only ones who have their eyes on the Italian midfielder. Rivals Liverpool are also interested in the 25-year-old and it remains to be seen if they make a move before Spurs.
Who signs the midfielder is not known yet. Conte will meanwhile focus on the job at hand with his side travelling to Portugal to face Sporting Lisbon for their second group-stage match. Fans will hope for a repeat of matchday one and so will Conte.
